Persistent privacy violations, the steady enshittification of Microsoft Windows, billionaires meddling in European elections, and sanctions against the International Criminal Court — by early 2025, it was clear to me: I could no longer trust my digital life to another country’s geopolitical mood swings. I needed to move. Yet leaving felt impossible; surely I would have to give up my favourite applications and games if I stepped away from Microsoft and Google. Or so I thought.
